I recently purchased a pair of CR2 speakers on the recommendation of a friend in Montreal.  The company was easy to deal with and answered all my audio questions – even those not speaker related.  They arrived in less than a month, after I had been told that it could take longer.  My first thoughts were of awe at the paint’s shine, and concern that my stands might not be able to hold their weight; these are very solidly built speakers.

 

After setting them up in my office, I was astonished by the amount of detail that I was hearing from my collection for the first time.  During orchestral music it seems that the stage is extending past the outside of the speakers, making it possible to pinpoint individual instruments.  Listening to jazz, instruments and voices have a lifelike presence that is almost disconcerting at first.  And when playing rock and heavy metal (no, I’m not ashamed to say it) they have no problem with being played loud.

 

In my opinion, the CR2’s bass response is unparalleled for such a small speaker.  These are the third set of small speakers that I’ve owned, and there is no comparison – I’d have to go to the towers in my main system for that.  The slight lack of the very lowest bass notes is insignificant in relation to the speaker’s high resolution, sweet none-fatiguing high end and convincing midrange.

 

I’m very pleased with my purchase and can see myself listening to these for many years.  One downfall to the CR2s is that you can really tell when you’re listening to a poor recording, which has caused me to start reconsidering the order of my favorite albums list.

I have had the LA2's in my home for over a year and I must say for price you can't go wrong with these speakers. Team them up with a good amp and source playing the music of your choice, and then relax the LA2's will do the rest!  Don't worry about not having enough power or their small size, in a reasonably sized room, my 50 watt amp is more than enough for the LA2's. Sit back and enjoy the music.

Several years ago I had LoVetri Acoustics build me a pair of monitors for my recording studio.  Basically they are CR2’s with a lower priced paint job and custom stands.  Used as nearfield monitors they offer a balance appropriate for nearfield and near to the wall use in small rooms.  I do sometimes place a foam bung in the vent in the back to reduce the bass caused by their placement in the corners of my room.  Everyone who passes the studio comments on how great they sound!
